Y'know I wrote this headline in my notebook about 3 days ago and even I'm wondering whether this has legs!
A dodged bus fare, dodgy 1st Class seat and a London Bobbie helps me dodge a bullet?
Do wot?
It was kinda reassuring that my first step into London was officially taken off the No 10 bus directly outside the Albert Hall.
The last time I was there was 1997 for a concert with the London Philharmonic the highlight of which was a rendition of 'Bolero'. On the snare drum, a bloke played flat out for 20 minutes without a break at break neck pace and tender taps!
As can happen sometimes, not all London addresses can be captured by Google let alone the best map known to mankind -- something I also noted when passing the Royal Geographic Society about 3 minutes later.
Given this is the diplomatic area, it wasn't long before I was thinking of taking up for the night with the boys at the Embassy of UAE. 'Cos as you recall, I'm pretty tight with a security dude at Doha airport!
Anyways I was just about to knock on the door to see if I could doss on the floor under the Ambassadors desk a la George Costanza, I spied a London Bobbie.
He whipped out his satnav and even he couldn't find Watts Way. But we 'ad a cuppa tea and discussed the virtues of England's Ashes chances.
Not a bad night all up.
